Boats along the Seacoast region of New Hampshire and southern Maine were once the vehicles that drove economic development.
Today, boats—and the process of building them—are vehicles for education and youth development.
At the Boatshop at Strawbery Banke, we believe in the power of boats as a way to teach practical life lessons and foster a connection with our region's rich maritime history.
Every tool that we place in a child's hand, every piece of wood they learn to shape under their own effort, is a chance to help them build confidence, learn problem-solving skills, cultivate focus and attentiveness, and to tangibly experience the connection between effort and results. And every boat we build connects us to those who came before and those that will come after us.
While program fees support part of this mission, we also rely on the investment of generous individuals like you who understand that in the Boatshop we're not just building boats, we're building people.
